This is your first step towards leadership in NAFA.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n Open Board Positions 2025<\/strong><\/p>\nNAFA’s Board of Directors is composed of five (5) Officers and seven (7) Directors. Director terms are two years in length. The Role of Volunteer Leaders<\/strong><\/p>\n The NAFA Board of Directors serves as the governing body of the organization, holding ultimate policy and fiscal responsibility. Elected by the membership, Board members provide leadership, strategic vision, and oversight to guide NAFA’s future.<\/p>\n Board members are expected to:<\/p>\n NAFA provides a $1 million Directors & Officers (D&O) Liability Insurance policy to protect against potential exposure while serving.<\/p>\n\t Primary Responsibilities of the Board<\/strong><\/p>\n Directors are expected to understand and participate in five key areas of governance:<\/p>\n Meetings & Time Commitment<\/strong><\/p>\nThe Board meets in person twice a year, with additional meetings held via conference calls as needed. \nThere are currently three (3) Director positions open<\/strong> for the upcoming term:
\nTerm Duration:<\/strong> January 1, 2026 – December 31, 2027\n\t\n

\nOversight of the organization in accordance with the bylaws and articles of incorporation. This does not include day-to-day management, which is handled by staff.<\/li>\n
\nEstablishing key policies and positions that guide the association and its stakeholders, especially on recurring or critical matters.<\/li>\n
\nProviding long-term direction through strategic planning, upholding NAFA’s mission and vision, and promoting its public image.<\/li>\n
\nOverseeing financial health, legal compliance, and ethical integrity.<\/li>\n
\nEngaging in active recruitment to grow NAFA’s membership and leadership pipeline.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\t
\nEstimated time commitment:<\/strong> 2-6 hours per month\n\t\n
\n<\/strong>The deadline to nominate is June 30th<\/sup>. The nomination committee will review the candidates and then recommend a slate to the board of directors mid-July. All candidates will be contacted by the end of July. The slate will be presented to the membership at the annual convention taking place in Newport, RI, October 21-23, 2025 and the formal electronic vote will be held following the meeting.
